Better workplace humans

Teams

21% of employees who quit say increasing positive interactions with their manager (such as better listening and communication) could have prevented them from leaving.
— Gallup, 2024

This program meets your team where they are at by helping them identify what gets in their way instead of just telling them what to do differently. Sandy and Sarah co-facilitate a safe space for learning and conversations we normally don’t make time for during the workday, while providing simple and effective tools for better, repeatable, results.

program objectives

  • Be better at understanding how you lead, how your colleagues lead, and what makes leading hard.

  • Be better at relationships by building skills in these four areas: listening and learning, trust, vulnerability, and empathy.

  • Be better at generating results in team-based environments.

  • Be better at your chosen area(s) of focus.

  • Build the courage and confidence to try new (and sometimes uncomfortable) things.

the results

  • Greater willingness to accept responsibility — less blaming

  • Increased confidence in all aspects of leadership — self-awareness, relationships, and results

  • Hard conversations happen and don’t erode results, culture, and trust

  • A greater sense of belonging and connection to each other and the organization

  • Succession planning becomes easier when you start building future leaders, today

  • Higher engagement, higher retention, higher productivity, stronger relationships

why this program works

specifc

Leadership is a big topic and can feel overwhelming. We break it down into three digestible parts, deliver memorable content through storytelling, and provide practical frameworks for participants to experiment with.

safe

Whether you are new to the idea of leadership or not, we create optimal conditions for learning — a safe space to explore and experiment, to ask questions, and to be yourself.

suppported

Coaching is critical to supporting change. It creates shifts in thinking and behaviour that you might have never thought possible. People who are open to learning and ready for something to be different have told us that this program helped them to create meaningful changes in their lives. The content is as powerful as you want it to be.

  • We start with a 60-minute kick-off session to introduce the program, facilitators, and participants.

Participants then complete a leadership self-assessment and have a 1:1 coaching session. These tools help focus each participant on what they want to get from the program as well as their personal WHY for wanting to become a better leader.

Each cohort receives three 90-minute workshops and three group coaching sessions. While in-person delivery is an option (in non-COVID times), the entire program is designed and intended to be live and fully virtual.

The program ends with a 60-minute wrap-up session.

  • Our workshops are practical, dynamic, interactive, and conversational. We have observed teams energize and inspire one another when they learn together and get comfortable sharing stories, challenges, and successes. Our sessions include two facilitators and are designed to encourage a high degree of participation.

The workshops center around our Living Leadership model which focuses on leadership in the context of self, relationships, and results

  • Group coaching sessions take place approximately two weeks after each workshop and are designed to support the practical application of the workshop concepts. In these intimate and interactive sessions, participants share the actions they are taking to link their personal learning goals to the workshop material. These sessions are opportunities to examine their learning and create momentum, accountability, and relationships in ways that are unlikely to happen during the regular workday.

  • Who can participate in this program?

This program is for learners and for anyone who identifies with this statement: I am someone who cares about bringing my best self to my workplace. Your position, age, or stage of life and career have nothing to do with whether or not you belong here.

What is included in the program?

Sandy and Sarah co-facilitate the following:

    • Welcome orientation and program kick-off session

    • A 30-minute individual coaching session for each participant

    • Three 90-minute workshops

    • Three group coaching sessions

    The is also:

    • A leadership self-assessment

    • A reference workbook summarizing the program tools and concepts

    • Additional 1:1 coaching as needed over the course of the program

What is the format and duration of the program?

The program runs for 3.5 months. The learning cadence is a workshop and companion group coaching session once per month.

While in-person delivery is an option, the entire program is designed and intended to be live and fully virtual.

What happens if I miss a workshop or group coaching session?

Our virtual workshops can be recorded for participants to watch and refer to over the course of the program. For in-person workshops, we encourage participants to find a learning partner to review the material with. Make-up coaching sessions can be scheduled at the request of the participant.

Do we have to sign up as a team or can I sign up for the program as an individual?

We offer both team and individual sign-up options.

Enrolling as a team is the most powerful way to experience the program. It promotes accountability, deepens relationships, and creates a shared approach to being a better workplace human.

Enrolling as an individual in an open enrollment cohort gives participants the opportunity to learn and network with people from different industries and organizations. Some participants feel more free to share stories and experiences with non-colleagues.

How does the program scheduling work?

Individual cohort dates are set in advance and will be posted on our website. Send us a message through our Contact Page if you are interested in a future cohort.

For team cohorts, we work with you and your organization to find the most optimal schedule for the group.

    Where is the program delivered?

Sandy and Sarah are based in Vancouver, BC. While in-person delivery is an option, the entire program is designed and intended to be live and fully virtual.

How many participants are in a program cohort?

We will work with your organization to determine the best size and cohort make-up.

    Is there homework?

There is work to be done outside the program, yes. In your group coaching sessions, you will commit to trying new things you learned in the workshops. We prefer to call that practice, rather than homework.

Between workshops, you will also be given two or three questions to consider and potentially an article to read, a podcast to listen to, or a video to watch. We will not ask you to write a book report.

How do you measure the success of the program?

In our final group coaching session and at the program debrief, we revisit where you started and where you are now. We take the time to notice the wins. Each participant leaves with a Guiding Leadership Statement that they will use as a guide and measure for how they show up in the world. And, organizational stakeholders receive a final report that includes our thoughts and observations, feedback from participants, and recommended next steps to build on the momentum this program helped create.

    What is the program investment?

For corporate teams, the investment depends on the number of participants and cohorts required.
